The conference will have a unique structure designed to foment inter- and extra- disciplinary dialogue and engage with artistic performances directly. Presenters will have three participation options: seminars, presentation panels, and pedagogical workshops. The participants must choose one of the two formats when they submit their abstract or panels proposals.
- For the seminar option, 6-8 participants will come together for the two days of the conference in a 2 hour session (depending on number of participants) to share their work and collaboratively discuss it over the two days. In this way, all the participants will hold intense discussion with colleagues on the topic of the seminar and their papers, which will be circulated beforehand. If choosing this option, participants are greatly encouraged to submit an pre-organized panel proposal around a specific theme or topic. The seminar will be open-audience, but focused on the discussions between participants with time allotted for audience participation and q&a.
- For the presentation option, participants will be organized around a topic in 3-4 person panel session lasting between 2-3 hours. Each participant will have 15 minutes to read their work and there will be a Q&A session afterwards. If choosing this option, participants are greatly encouraged to submit a pre-organized panel proposal around a specific theme or topic. Individual papers are also accepted and will be organized thematically. The panel will be open-audience.
- For the pedagogical workshops, participants will be organized in 6-8 person groups that will meet during 2-3 hour sessions. Each person will have 10-15 minutes to present on examples of their pedagogical practices, pedagogical theory, or current issues in language and cultural pedagogy; emphasis on decolonial, feminist, inclusive, critical pedagogy and similar strategies are encouraged. For the rest of the workshop participants will have a structured discussion around their pedagogical experiences and proposals. This panel will be open-audience and especially encourages audience participation.
We encourage those interested to reach out to us for further details and any question you might have on each of these options. The objective of this variety of participation format is to encourage ourselves to cross the disciplinary and institutional borders we navigate in and out of academia.
